There have been many tributes to the legendary man and All Black, Jonah Lomu. From online posts to news pieces, articles and images; our outpouring of loss and sadness has over the last few weeks dominated social and traditional media.
What we have responded to here at Party Bus is an online video post by DJ Reminise who is the son of Party bus coach driver John Hettig.
What we love about this video is not only the beautiful melody and amazing composition of the song, but also the affiliation, loss and respect these talented singers have for their fellow man, Jonah Lomu.
The outpouring of grief from the rugby community to those who knew Jonah best right through to the general public could not have been stronger and social media was awash with tributes and tweets as we all shared our disbelief. Messages of condolences flooded in from all corners of the world with many international newspapers honouring him with obituaries and front page dedications.
Loss, especially when unexpected brings out a collective feeling of grief, which in Jonah’s case, stretched throughout the entire country and further, back to Jonah’s home in Tonga.
In their show of support and respect, the Hettig boys and their friends pay tribute to the man Jonah Tali Lomu by singing a Boys II Men medley in a loving and emotional rendition.
Their prayer is that the words of these songs bring some comfort to us all at this time of loss. Their deepest and heartfelt condolences go out to the Lomu family and here at Party Bus we join them in that mass outpouring of support and grief.
Take the time to watch their video, it’s well worth it.
