Pub Crawls & Night Time hires - How to help organise a safe event!
A pub-crawl may seem, at least on the surface, to be an opportunity for drinking to excess but it really shouldn’t be. The entire point is to have fun, variety and enjoy the atmosphere of each different establishment. It should not be about drinking to excess, if you do drink too much, you may be refused entry to the bars and that can ruin everyone’s evening. With that in mind there are some important tips and rules of the road for a successful pub crawl. If you follow them you’re sure to have a great and safe time.
1 : The Basics – These go without saying but we will anyway
No glass bottles are permitted on any of our buses
The driver & hirer are to inspect the bus prior to & after the hire for any damage
The balance owing is to be paid to the driver before departure. If extra time is required it is to be given to the driver prior to the extended time. The hirer is responsible for any damage incurred to the bus during the hire No standing on the bus while in motion.
No cans or rubbish is to be thrown on or out of the bus
All passengers must keep all body parts inside the bus at all times, failure to do so will result in the person being banned from the bus for the remainder of the hire.
The hirer is responsible for accounting all passengers. We take no responsibility for persons left behind
We take no responsibility for passengers’ belongings so please ensure you collect all your belongings at the end of the hire
Anyone who displays unacceptable behavior will be removed from the bus and the hire could be terminated (without a refund). This is for the safety & benefit of the passengers
The company reserves the right to enforce a compulsory sober stop if passengers are becoming too intoxicated. A compulsory sober stop may be a trip to McDonalds.
Rule 2 – Don’t Drink & Drive!
We organised the transport between bars but make sure you have a safe way of getting home when we drop you off. If you have been drinking PLEASE DON’T DRIVE!!!
Rule 3 – Pace Yourself!
Take your time! You have a big night ahead of you so don’t be in a rush at the first bar because there are plenty more stops to go.
Rule 4 – Eat!
Plan a food stop early in the evening. Remember our drivers reserve the right to take you to a compulsory sober stop. This could mean a trip a local fast food restaurant.
Rule 5 – Drink Water
Alcohol dehydrates, so it’s important to “space” your drinks out with glasses of water and re-hydrate. It will help alleviate the hangover the next morning. Bring some bottles of water for the bus. Your guests will thank you.
Rule 6 - Drinking on buses is against the law
The Party Bus Company will not be held responsible for any liquor on the bus at any time. It is the organiser’s responsibility to ensure any liquor consumed is done so safely. The law states:
“No consumption or possession for consumption of liquor is permitted on the bus. If you breach this prohibition you risk a fine of up to $300 under the provisions of section 38 of the Summary Offences Act 1981.”
If you are supplying alcohol for passengers on the pub crawl you need to apply for a special license. Any bulk alcohol put onto the vehicle such as chilli bins will be considered as supplying alcohol on the buses. You can contact your local council office or their website for an application form.
Any liquor on the bus must be kept on the bus and can only be loaded from the PU address
What else should you do?
We recommend you have taxi chits available for your guests if they become too intoxicated so we can get them home safely and it does not affect everybody’s evening. Don’t always go to the busy bars – you will spend all your time queuing and not in the bar having fun. Let us recommend some alternatives where you can get served straight away. Remember with a full bus you will fill the bar anyway! The driver reserves the right to terminate the hire at any time should these rules be breached.
What happens if the bus is late?
In the unlikely event that the bus arrives late for your pick up due to delays which are often out of our control, we will give you a credit for TWICE the time lost or a credit for the value of the time lost to be used on a future event. The Party Bus Company Ltd does not accept liability for consequential losses which may occur.
School Runs
As a provider of school bus services we reserve the right to refuse service to any student who we believe to be acting in an inappropriate manner.
Payment Terms
Deposits are required to confirm all our events and bus hires, and are non-refundable. All enquiries you make with us are noted in our system as a quotation. Quotations do not reserve a bus or event for you, it is only once we have received your deposit that we are able to confirm your booking and allocate a particular vehicle or space at an event. So please confirm your booking as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
If you do need to cancel your booking please do so well before the booking date. Bookings that are cancelled with inappropriate notice will be charged to the client at the full value of the hire or event.
If for any reason we need to send your debt to a debt collector you will be charged debt collection fees.
Lost Property

Bookings
Charter bookings are subject to availability at the time confirmation is received.
Departure Times
The pick up time booked is the planned arrival time of the vehicle booked. We give our drivers sufficient time to to arrive at their destination on time and ready to depart, however, if there are circumstances beyond our control we cannot be held liable for these delays. On any Pub Crawl hire if there is a delay we will add TWICE the time delay at the end of the hire subject to vehicle availability.
Repairs and Cleaning
Depending on the hire there is an expected level of cleaning. If a greater level of cleaning is required you may be required to pay for this. If one of your group is sick on the bus there will be a $50 cleaning charge. Any damage to the vehicle caused by the passengers will be charged to the organisor and the organisor will take responsibility to pay for these repairs and seek recompense from the person concerned.
