Oh what a night, late September back in ’63…
Actually it was late July in 2014…when we had the time of our lives at a double 50th birthday celebration at the Party Bus Boogie venue in Avondale.
The festivities began relatively early in the evening with family and friends arriving at my brother’s house in West Auckland. Everyone was in theme, some looked absolutely spectacular and others, dare I say it, looked absolutely tragic.
All decked out in themed costumes
The theme was a boogie night set in the 60’s but we had a range of costumes from the 50’s through to the 80’s.
For instance, Darth Veda and Leia beamed in with 4 Jedi to protect them, John McEnroe rocked up with Elvis, and the birthday boy and girl came as beatniks with long straggly hair and multi-coloured jabber wocky ugg boots. It was hilarious!
The fun begins as soon as we step on board
When the party bus arrived to take us to the venue everyone was full of enthusiasm and excitement.
As we watched the party bus come down our street there were massive cheers from the motley crew that had gathered; even the neighbours came out to see what was going on. Once we had climbed aboard, they waved us off with cheers and whoop whoops as the party bus pulled out and made its way to the venue.
It was such a lot of fun riding in the bus. Some were singing, others were trying to be heard over the music that was playing, some were already dancing and the air was filled with laughter. It’s fair to say that we were super-jovial by the time we reached the venue.
At the venue we spilled out of the bus and walked into a room that was themed to sit the night. The music, the strobe lights, the colours – the entire atmosphere – was everything we wanted and more than we could have hoped for.
We rocked the night away and had so much fun that our kids conceded that our generation knew how to party and wanted us to organise our future family festive events. Us oldies already knew all this but wouldn’t have been able to convince our kids without the Party Bus team.
Party Bus exceed all our expectations
They exceeded our expectations and we are so grateful for everything they did to make our night one to remember for a long time to come.
We’re already planning another themed event for my nephews 21st, at his request.
How funny! When we first suggested this to him he wasn’t at all impressed and thought we were all a little nuts. Having experienced it himself now, he has had a total change of heart.
A big thank you Party Bus, from our family to yours.
We will be seeing you again in the not too distant future. Until then, rock on!
